Here's what folks in the music business are saying about Rob Roy's NEW cd, "Let's Start Something" released July 2008.

"Lee Roy's singing and harp blowing bro Rob Roy delivers a winning and sterling set of roadhouse blues a la Delbert McClinton that travels through the range of Texas styles and modes with the assurance of a new crown prince of the scene."

- Texas Music magazine

First, it's a great disc for road trips.  I recently took a drive to Kansas City and back, and this is the only disc I took.  And I wasn't bored for a second.
Secondly, I think this is a great CD for those of you who love to dance.  Now, me, I look like a drunken steer in the last stages of Mad Cow disease when I try to dance.  But, I'm sure you are much more agile and fluid that I am.  And, if you are, this disc will trip your dance mode switch on from the first note, and it won't let you off the boogie-woogie roller coaster until the last one.
This is a great CD.  Buy it.  Play it.  Roll with it.  Dance to it.  Trust me.  No, really.  This is the real deal.

One of those hard working cats that is a legend in the United States of Texas, this harmonica playing bad boy is a cat that knows everyone and has worked with them all and he stirs up something heady on this Texas roadhouse special.  A kick ass, rousing date that'll really get your blood flowing, you really have to be dead not to feel the party going on here.  With a bunch of his friends that you know pretty well if you listen to Americana, the friends and family vibe and the camaraderie that comes from it really turns things up a notch.  No wonder he's regarded as the premiere harmonica player around.  Hot stuff.

"If you're looking for a CD to get the guests at your next party up out of their seats and dancing, put on this release and know Rob Roy Parnell means it when he says 'Let's Start Something.' You're only trouble will be getting everyone to go home before the sun comes up!"
- Southwest Blues magazine (June 2008)

"With a reputation as one of America's best harp blasters...The new album is said to be a collection of roadhouse music, a rockin' mix of blues, R&B, boogie woogie, and soul music with that undeniable Texas edge.

Parnell's last album was the critically-acclaimed Jacksboro Highway, about which Texas music legend Delbert McClinton said "I really like this record. It's got attitude." That's all that needs to be said!"

Let's Start Something"is dirt road funky and Parnell never overplays but saves his smoking licks for solos."
- Vintage Guitar magazine

The good times simply ooze outta the grooves on this one, and, I swear, you can dang near taste that "barbecue for $5 a plate" Rob alludes to in the ode to one-nighters all across the USA, "This Is What The Blues Is All About."  He can coax some mighty soulful sounds out of his harp, too.       Rob Roy Parnell's latest set is guaranteed to get your toes to tappin, head to bobbin, and generally get ya in a good mood!!  Put on this CD and "Let's Start Something.....  a big ole Texas-sized throwdown!!!  Until next time....

Usually artists do not like to have their music put into any category. They like to think their songs and styling are unique enough to defy all labels. So, Rob Roy Parnell must be having a good chuckle at my expense as I try to describe his fine new album of very enjoyable music. It is we reviewers who feel the need to label and categorize as a service to our readers.

Rob Roy Parnell has already "started something" - it appears to be a successful recording career. Never mind the labels, just categorize it as a fun set.

Let's Start Something is an infectious blend of Texas roadhouse music, so much so that it becomes obvious Parnell is performing with nothing short of his very best friends, friends that are having the time of their lives recording together.  The result is an album filled with joyful good times, 12 tracks that leave the listener with a smile from start to finish.
